Wedding Day Photo Booths - From "I Do" to "I Remember"

By Samantha Breen

If there is one day that you want to remember forever, it is your wedding day. During the long planning phase it feels like the day will never come, but once it arrives it passes far too quickly. Your big day may have some small imperfections or mishaps, but those are the things that will give the day character and personality to be remembered forever.

You will probably want to hire a photographer, and perhaps a videographer, but they can't capture the spirit of your wedding. The true spirit of the day comes from your guests. They are the ones who remember you when you were small and have supported you through the ups and downs of life, so it is only fitting that they cry with you when taking the hand of the person you love most. Let the photographer capture the cake and the bride's dance with her father, but don't leave the guests out of the picture.

A photo booth hire will allow your guests to take center stage at your wedding. They can climb into the booth alone to record sentimental videos that you will later receive compiled onto one DVD for your enjoyment. They can also climb into the booth in small groups of two to six people, posing for fun pictures that will later be compiled into an album for your memories. The best booths also expand so you can take large group photos.

You don't have to choose between a photo booth and a photographer/videographer. The photo booth is more of an opportunity for your guests to contribute to your wedding in a sentimental and fun manner.

The perfectly posed pictures captured by your photographer will hold a special place in your heart forever, but the images that your guests capture in the booth will serve as heartwarming memories that remind you why your big day was so special. Every guest enjoying your big day will put their personality on display when they climb into the booth.

Incorporating the Photo Booth

Everyone will want to get into the photo booth once guests realize it is there, so make sure there is plenty of opportunity for everyone to take their turn. You might want to place the booth in an easy-to-find location near the entrance of your reception. Your guests will have to blow some time waiting for your wedding party to get pictures with the photographer right after the ceremony. Your guests will be less impatient if they can take a turn in the photo booth while waiting.

Even after you enter the reception and the party heats up, guests be drawn to the photo booth to capture more memories. Guests should be asked to step out of line to watch your entrance and perhaps eat, then they should be free to dance and live it up while going into the booth in different groups to record video messages and snap pictures.

You may want to offer a special prize to the guest who makes the funniest picture in the booth. This will get everyone in line for the booth. The pictures will be very creative and original when you offer this type of contest.

Your wedding day is all about the "I do," but the photo booth will make the "I remember" that comes years later much easier.
