Sports 101

By Casper Vivianodeni

Sports include all forms of competitive physical activity which, through casual or organised involvement, is directed towards the use, maintenance or improvement of physical ability and at the same time provides fun to members. There is a long list of sports you can choose from, from those needing only two members, through to those with hundreds of coinciding members, either in teams or competing as individuals.

Just about every sport in this world is governed by a group of rules and regulations that allow fairness and consistency in the games. Whether or not a group or individual wins a game is gauged on various considerations such as scores, the simple crossing of a line or the decision of judges.

Concurrently, different sports also have different organizations. And organizers of these organizations also want to improve the company by introducing healthy competition. One of these ways is by introducing fixed and unchangeable rules to its members and makes sure that all will be knowledgeable about them. Individuals compete here by constantly sticking to the rules; the better an individual follows regulations, then the more competitive he is.

Next, most organizations use a score card that measures the performance of the individual. The scores are based on different aspects and not on one objective. This way they can be evaluated perfectly and extensively in all aspects of their performance. When members, or staff become aware that they are under evaluation, they tend to improve their performance and outputs.

Other than the abovementioned, there's also the more popular use of incentives. These incentives can include anything from promotions, or better positions or even salaries. Then there's the growing in popularity reward of awards. This method of spiking up competition can be really motivating especially if there are perks that come with the award. There are even times when the bonuses that comes with the awards which are either glass trophies or glass awards, etc.,are no longer important. This is due to the fact that the fame that comes with the award can sometimes be more important than the money or any other incentive.
