Jump Start Your Career As A Cycle Mechanic

By Casper Vivianodeni

Statistics show that there are now a lot of opportunities when it comes to specialized fields. And specialized areas don't mean those post-grad degree holders alone.Technical knowledge like those that you can get from cycle mechanic training is also in demand right now.

The current problem with unemployment has its roots back to the mismatch of available workers to the available jobs. Most people are prepared for blue collar jobs when in fact, the ones available are technical or skill-based jobs. This means that they are unable to find employment since they do not have the skills required.

This is why the best career advice is to follow what you love to do.Don't force yourself into things that you don't enjoy. If you love biking and if you love tinkering with bikes, one option for you is to become a cycle mechanic.

You don't need and PhD for this. All you need is proper bicycle mechanic training and enough experience. Here are some tips on how you can kick-off a cycle mechanic career:

1. Go biking- before you even enroll yourself in a course or in anything at all, you have to learn to ride bikes and to see how everything goes for bikers. This gives you a hunch as to the needs of every biker and how things work for them

2. Enroll in vocational courses-visit technical schools which offer courses for bicycle mechanics. You can go for a crash course or there are also some in-depth courses that last longer.you may opt to finish it one time or cut it down to a few short courses at a time.

3. Get experience-as a beginner you surely couldn't put up a shop immediately. What you can do is to work as an intern in bigger bike shops. This will earn you experience and help you establish connections in case you want to put up your own shop already.

When you're done with your cycle mechanic training course and you have gained enough experience, you may opt for better positions in shops. If you have earned enough experience and you have the start-up money you can also put up your own bike shop.
