The Birth of the Tag Heuer Formula 1 Watch

By Sebastian Cork

TAG Heuer is one of the most renowned names when it comes to designing and making timepieces and men's watches. It is a brand that has a rich history in terms of producing the best precision watches consumers can get their hands on. The company's Swiss beginnings contribute to its reputable image in the watch making industry. The name Heuer on the other hand is in honor of Edouard Heuer, the man who founded the very first small jewelry shop in the heart of a tiny Swiss village called St.Imier.

Edouard was simply contemplating making and designing good quality watches that would symbolize something that had never existed in his time, those with precision and durability. The humble objective soon became a huge success and a hit for consumers and in a matter of years, the once small Swiss watch shop became one of the biggest names in the entire industry of watches, especially catering the sports and highly durable niche of timepieces.

The company's success was expected. And that was soon followed with the first ever patent attributed to them. The first patent was a chronograph mechanism, a debut in that era. After the huge success in 1882, Heuer eventually became a big time name in the watch-making industry with the help of more discoveries and inventions such as the dashboard stopwatch for cars, small timekeeping device, and the automatic movement with micro rotor.

But the biggest development in the company's history was in 1985 when finally, Heuer completed a merger with another huge player in the industry, TAG. TAG means Techniques D'Avant-Garde. Hence, the company we have come to know this day known as TAG Heuer.

After the establishment of the new and bigger brand, they were able to produce and manufacture all-time bestsellers such as the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Watch. In fact, the very same model is considered the flagship of the brand due to its classic popularity. The watch is named after the world championship racing. The unveiling of this model led consumers to realize that Heuer has in fact leaned towards the design and production of more advanced and sporty types with the use of the innovative quartz mechanism.

The most salient design feature of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Watch is the equipment of its stocky composite bezel. This spec is partnered with highly fashionable rubber straps with different color options. The entire design concept of the product makes it extremely ideal for those who just happen to dislike spending thousands of dollars for overly expensive Swiss brand watches.

But then again, nothing really makes the Formula 1 more distinct than the emphasis placed on making it a consumer's item. It means that it is particularly designed to suit the need of elegance and sophistication in a timepiece without putting a hefty price tag on it.

With the history attached to the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Watch, it is now considered a classic and even a pricey collectible. It is one of those products that will certainly put legend on the name of the brand.
