Excellent areas to go diving in Thailand

By Becky Anderson

One for the bucket list is scuba diving. But, why Thailand you might ask. Because Thailand has some of the finest scuba diving sites in the world due to the variety of the sea life and the range of dive sites you can dive. Dive sites which are perfect for both new and experienced scuba divers.

Thai diving sites that will rock your world:

Hin Daeng & Hin Muang

This dive site takes a bit of travelling; nonetheless it can be done in a day, dependent on where you depart from. These are stunning dive sites, where manta rays are not an unusual sighting. There are large shoals of reef fish, beautiful corals, gorgonia and anemones, to say only some. Good buoyancy is of key importance at both these sites to ensure protection of this beautiful, but fragile ecosystem.

Koh Kraden Wreck

Another excellent spot to test out your buoyancy is on the Koh Kraden Wreck. This Japanese destroyer ship has been converted into a home for a big variety of fish, and moray eels. If you look closely, you may find seahorses behind the ropes.

Hin Nok

Hin Nok is composed of a plateau and apexes with lots of channels in between. Around here you can find moray eels, moorish idols, butterfly fish, barracudas and anglefish and you may also find the odd turtle swimming around. A fascinating find here is the Ghost Pipefish, but they are also very tough to see, so keep your eyes peeled!

Koh Ma

Although Koh Ma is not so deep, you will not be unsatisfied with the dive due to this, as the site offers much more. You can find some unusual fish here, like the shrimpfish that swims upside down.

Scuba diving holidays in Thailand can be anything you desire. Whether you dive for wrecks, for depth, for giant fish or merely to absorb the natural sweetness of the coral reefs; there really is something suitable for everybody. The variety of the underwater life means that every dive site, even the local sites can send you the most awesome experiences for instance, Chumphon in Koh Toa, Thailand during the Whale Shark season. There are the leopard sharks, which are also great to see.

Thailand in itself is an experience not to be forgotten. Combine the marvelous beaches and tropical environment with diving and you actually will have a memory to savor forever, as Thailand is as stunning below the surface, as it is above it. Go once and remember forever!
