When traveling, don't flaunt your wealth. Wear modest clothes and jewelry. Avoid having large bills, or large rolls of bills, in your hand at any time. Travelers are natural targets for thieves. Flaunting wealth will only increase your vulnerability. Modesty will help to keep you safe.Before leaving for your vacation, remember to notify your credit card agencies and banks of your vacation. During the winter, in special, it is good to keep a couple of blankets, some boots, some matches and a large candle, in the trunk of your vehicle. These could come in vastly handy if you happen to skid off the road and end up lodged in a snow bank with no chance of immediate rescue.When driving a long distance, be sure to stop to rest and stretch occasionally so that you do not become drowsy or cramped. Bring Ziploc bags for your liquids and toiletries to minimize time in airport security lines. Bring a few extra in case companions have forgotten theirs or yours have torn. You may also find that they serve other uses on your trip and can be invaluable when readily available. They are also a clever way to carry small items and make them easy to view and find.
