Important facts you need to know about Black Diamond Tents.

By Mark Longman

Black Diamond Tents was started to fund an eighteen year old's climbing addiction in his backyard in 1957, this gentleman was called Yvon. In the workshop he started making pitons and then driving hundreds of miles selling them out of the back of his car.

Being durable and good performance it's no surprise that they rapidly became the industry standard. If you enjoy the outdoors and are wanting exceptional value for money and quality then Black Diamond is for you, Now being a global company many people think the same.

If you are the weekend backpacker or the avid rock climber you will be impressed by the durability and the light weight of the Black Diamond Tents, they also provide a great range as well. When choosing Black Diamond Tents, you should think about two things. One what's the weight of it as i'm carrying it and two how easy is it going to be to put up. I only say this as i have personally been caught in a snow storm in the pitch black trying to put a tent up that doesn't want to go up at all.

There are two weather categories for Black Diamond Tents:

3-Season: This is moderate conditions, including light gusts of winds and light rain

4-Season: These tents do very well against high winds, torrential rain and heavy snowfall.

There are 2 main styles of tents:

DoubleLight Series: This design can stand up to all weather conditions due to the double walled mesh/nylon skin. Also the entire frame is integrated in to one unit called the fast pitch hub, making solid and secure.

Superlight series: Have been made from a single layer of incredibly water-resistance breathable fabric, better known as NanoShield. Also has a coating of silicon Nanocell to increases it's strength and makes an excellent fabric against tearing.

Black Diamond Tents specialises in dome tents as these maximise the internal capacity for sleeping and storage. Black Diamond also provide.

Tarp shelters: which are very minimalist tents, they would look like the traditional ridge tents and you use your trekking poles or ski poles for the tent poles, they also weigh no more than 4lbs.

Bivy Bags: This is a 4-season tent for one person they are made with a fabric called Toddtex, which is a very breathable and waterproof material, very similar to gore-tex.

I hope you agree that Black Diamond Tents are truly great quality and value for money, you can see on my other pages the certain models in depth. Let your next mountaineering trip be one with a tent from the Black Diamond Tents range.
