Family Activities to Enjoy During the Summer Holidays

By Steve Alexander

If you're looking for fun things to do with the whole family this summer, check out these suggestions below from sporting days out to adventure days.

For the ultimate gift for Dad, why not take the family on a tour of his favourite football team's stadium. Visitors to Old Trafford can learn about the key administrators, managers and players that helped shape the legacy of Manchester United. Supporters of the club will be able to visit its museum, which will give fans an understanding of the club's history, from its establishment in 1878 to its current position today.

A visit to the Emirates Stadium in North London is sure to delight Arsenal fans. A former Gunners legend will lead the tour, divulging news about the team and anecdotes about his playing days. Guests will have full access to the stadium including the Director's Box and press facilities. A limited edition Legends Tour gift will be given as a souvenir to remember the day by at the end of the tour, as well as a signed photograph from the tour guide.

Kids who have dreamt of being a knight will enjoy a day of medieval jousting in Warwick. After participating in a riding assessment, an instructor will provide a complete overview of the equipment used in the competition alongside a history of the sport. Your child will then be instructed in on and off horse combat techniques originally used in warfare, and traditional jousting techniques.

Before heading to lunch, your child can practice their aim on a spinning target. Following a rest and refuel, participants will be taught a choreographed fight sequence before dressing in their traditional jousting costumes. Finally, it is swords (and lances) drawn as the participants compete against each other in a tournament, with all players receiving a certificate at the end of the day.
